Japanese Swordmaker(swordsmith)

This is a training forge where the 25th and 26th Generation Kanefusa Fujiwara work on making Japanese swords which have been passed down since the Muromachi Period (1338-1573).   Japanese swords have not been used as a weapon in modern times; however, they are popular as an art-object or a charm within and outside the country.  During the “Visiting Factory Day in Seki”, we would like visitors to see one of the processes of making Japanese swords and the completed Japanese sword.  We hope visitors to have a chance to know about Japanese sword making which is the origin of Japanese cutlery manufacturing in Seki.
